Imo State Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC), standard bearer at the weekend’s governorship off-cycle election has dedicated his victory to God for emerging victorious in the poll.

Uzodimma, was declared winner with an overwhelming and wide margin of score of 540,308; defeating his distant opponent, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 71,503 votes. The Labour Party (LP), candidate, Athan Achonu, came third position, scoring 64,081. There were 18 candidates in the contest.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Abayomi Fasola, declared Uzodimma, yesterday about 10 a.m, for scoring the highest number of votes; also, scored the majority votes in all the 27 Local Councils of the state, satisfying the constitutional requirements.

Uzodimma, while, reacting gave dedicated his victory to God who made it possible, and loyal Imo citizens, electorate and residents for being behind him.

He declared his commitment to use the opportunity for his second tenure to do more work for the people of the state as promised during his campaign.

Ironically, Uzodimma, defeated both Anyanwu and Achonu, in their local councils

While the governor scored 22,356 votes in Ikeduru local council (Anyanwu’s local council); the PDP’s candidate had 7,258 votes. But the deputy governor of the state, Prof. Placid Njoku, hails from tbat local council.

In the case of the LP standard bearer, Achonu, Uzodimma, also defeated him in his local council, Ehime Mbano, with 6,632 votes over the former who had 4,958.

Uzodimma, also scored 67,315 in his local council (Oru East), defeating Anyanwu and Achonu, who had 3,443 and 2,202 votes respectively.

Meanwhile, the two candidates who participated Anyanwu, and Achonu have faulted the process, maintaining that there were electoral faults.

Uzodimma, is expected to be sworn in for a second tenure in January 15, next year.
