Vision Bling, a tech community founded out of a passion for facilitating the smooth transition of young individuals into technology, has unveiled its mission and commitment to assisting young people in navigating the tech world, with the pivotal initiative of Vision Bling Tech Innovator (VBTI) Challenge.

In an exclusive interview with Uloma Okenyi- Senior Software Developer and the Program Lead for Vision Bling, She reaffirmed Vision Bling’s dedication to facilitating the seamless entry of young individuals into the world of technology.

The VBTI Challenge beckons young minds to address real-life problems in entertainment, education, cybersecurity, and health, serving as a beacon of innovation and problem-solving. Participants, by creating IT or digital solutions, cultivate an environment conducive to innovation.

“Our first challenge took place among teenagers at Trans-Ekulu Girls Secondary School, Enugu, in 2021. Encouraged by the success, we expanded the challenge to university students in Enugu, Nigeria. This reflects our commitment to nurturing tech innovation, creating a dynamic platform that engages and inspires the next generation of tech leaders,” emphasized Ms. Uloma.

The Youth edition of the VBTI Challenge is structured into carefully considered stages, recognizing and rewarding exceptional talents. Contestants present their digital solutions to a diverse panel of judges, gaining valuable insights and ratings. The grand finale, a notable physical event, enables top performers to present polished versions of their groundbreaking ideas, adding authenticity to the competition. Intense competition and high stakes define the evaluation process, with the first, second, and third-place winners substantially rewarded. Additionally, a brand-new laptop is awarded to the participant showcasing exceptional skills and dedication.

Team Ace, winners of the 2022 VBTI Challenge, proposed an exceptional project named Lifeline. The solution aims to reduce mortality rates due to blood unavailability by creating a mobile app facilitating blood donation, locating nearby blood banks, and connecting with other donors.
“Our team for the Vision Bling Innovator Challenge came together unexpectedly.

The importance of teamwork cannot be overemphasized because it complemented me in the areas where I was lacking. The Vision Bling Tech Innovator Challenge journey taught me the impact of determination, collaboration, and the ability to effect positive change in the world through compassion and innovation,” the winning team lead, Obiajulu Camillus of Team ACE tells us.

“The experience I got from participating in this challenge was rather new because prior to this, I had no experience participating in any hackathon. I have Vision Bling to thank for bringing me out of my shell.
