Bauchi gov calls for forgiveness, humility, mutual respect
Vice President Kashim Shettima has prayed for the unity and progress of the country, urging citizens to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice and forgiveness.
The Vice President made the call, yesterday, in a message to mark this year’s Eid ul-Adha. He had earlier observed the Eid prayers at the National Eid Ground, Abuja, with the Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, among others.
“This sacred day is an occasion to reflect on the mercy of Allah, as revealed through the gracious blessings bestowed upon Prophet Abraham and his son, Prophet Isma’il.
“These timeless lessons serve as a guiding light to humanity across generations, reminding us of the limitless trials our Creator presents to us in our path to redemption. In embracing these teachings, we find the moral inspiration to be the best versions of ourselves.” He prayed God to forgive the shortcomings of the faithful and accept their prayers and sacrifices.
“May Allah heal us from whatever afflicts us in our private lives and as a nation, and may this day bring forth enduring unity and progress to our beloved country,” the VP added.
SIMILARLY, Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has urged Muslim faithful to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, humility and respect for one another, as they celebrate this year’s Eid el-Kabir.
Mohammed, in a statement, yesterday, implored the residents to use the occasion to strengthen the existing interpersonal relationships and create new ones.
“There is also the need for us to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, humility and respect for one another,” he said. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor urged them to pray for the prevailing peace in the state to be sustained and for adequate rainfall to wet the farms and boost their harvest.
Noting that he was not oblivious of the economic hardship across the state, Mohammed said “it is a national problem,” being jointly addressed by the Federal Government and the states.
He added: “I appeal to you to bear with the situation, which is temporary. As a responsive and responsible government, we will continue to roll out palliative measures to cushion the effect of the hardship.
“However, I also appeal to you to make some sacrifices to ensure that we overcome the hardship.”
