We didn’t pay ransom to my wife’s abductors, says The Sun’s DMD

STEVE Nwosu, the Deputy Managing Director of SUN Newspaper, whose wife, Toyin was released 72 hours after she was abducted by unknown persons in their residence in Lagos, has said that no ransom was paid to the kidnappers.

Toyin was released at about 2.00 am yesterday by her abductors. She was allegedly picked at First Gate area of Festac Town by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, with members of her family.

Efforts to get her to narrate her three days ordeal with her abductors failed, as she was in an unstable condition because of the incident.

Her elated husband expressed gratitude to everyone who has contributed to efforts to ensure her release, explaining that she would be taken to the hospital to assess her health status.

Nwosu was however quick to state that he had forgiven those who abducted his wife.

According to him: “If you have gotten used to having a wife when you get married and you discover that you cannot do any other thing without your wife, then you can imagine what not having her for almost three days will be like.

“We thank those who contributed to getting her freed. I thank the government, starting from the centre, the Inspector-General of Police who personally monitored the matter, the Presidency through Mr. Femi Adesina, even the Lagos State governor who called me.”

Briefing newsmen on the development at the command headquarters in Ikeja, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police said he personally witnessed Toyin’s reunion with her family.
