Why stakeholders’ involvement in basic education is critical

The Executive Director, Human Development Initiatives (HDI), Mrs. Olufunso Owasanoye has assured stakeholders in the education sector of government’s support, if they are fully committed to education planning and processes.

Speaking at the opening of a three-day training on monitoring and tracking of Universal Basic Education (UBE) projects for monitors from 10 local councils, said: “Your interest and active participation as a stakeholder will go a long way in determining positive decision making in basic education sub-sector. This training programme aims at equipping you as stakeholders to support the existing measures government have in place in the area of monitoring and for you to be able to advocate positive change in the area of Action Plan Implementation, and to also have knowledge of the application of monitoring and tracking tool, which will aid effective delivery of basic education projects in your respective communities.”

“You are both HDI and Lagos State government ambassador in ensuring the UBE basic education projects are effectively monitored. Put in your best and your name will be in gold, no argument or collection of fees from contractors, monitor according to the monitoring tools given to you.”
