RIVERS State Governor, Nyesom Wike has directed his political appointees, leaders of the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and local council Caretaker Committee Chairmen to resist arrest on trump up charges from security agents detailed to destabilise the PDP before the March 19 re-run election in the state.

Others directed to resist the security agents are top government functionaries and candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming rerun legislative elections.

The Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, said Governor Wike was in receipt of security information which revealed a directive by the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) to one Abdullahi in the Rivers State Command to summarily and illegally arrest PDP leaders, council chairmen, political appointees and candidates of the PDP for the re-run elections.

He said the governor specifically directed that the mentioned party leaders, political appointees and PDP candidates should not follow operatives of the DSS and other security agents to their offices under any guise.

According to him, the current security clampdown on Rivers State is part of the plot to rig the forthcoming re-run elections.

He urged party faithful in the state to remain vigilant in the days ahead as security agencies would be used to intimidate them.

He said the people of Rivers State would not allow anyone to use security agencies under any guise to rig the forthcoming re-run elections in the state.

Wike is afraid of his own shadow. It is a strategy of which he is a master; using security agents to intimidate the opposition. Even when there is no such plan, he must think of it as a possibility.

He is stoking many fault lines that would leave no other constitutional option than a state of emergency.
Buhari is no Jonathan, even Jonathan declared state of emergency when there was security breach.Impunity is anathema in this dispensation.
