BARELY two weeks after Justice Daisy Okocha was confirmed the substantive Chief Judge of Rivers State by Governor Nyesom Wike, a new Acting Chief Judge, Justice Adama Iye Iyayi–Lamikanra, was yesterday sworn in,following the retirement of Okocha on January 15, 2016.
Wike explained that the rule of law and respect for the laid down succession of Acting Chief Judge was followed in the appointment of Justice Iyayi-Lamikanra, adding that she is considered as the most senior judge in the state for the job.
Speaking during the swearing in at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Wike reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continue to accord women their rightful positions in government, no matter the circumstances.
The governor said that women would continue to enjoy more than 35 per cent of appointments in his administration. He said:
