A retired United States’ Merchant Marines officer, Cmdr. Fola Jinadu has urged Nigerians to be patient, saying, ‘insecurity will soon be over’.

Jinadu spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.

According to him, the insecurity in Nigeria is a challenging thing but it’s not just peculiar to Nigeria alone and can be fixed, it can get better.

He noted that nothing good comes without its challenging moments, adding that many countries had also experienced such in the past but they eventually overcame it.

“Seriously, I believe in Nigeria. Nigeria is going to be one of the greatest countries in the world and we are all going to be proud to be Nigerians.

” We need to be patient with the government and the existing security agencies in the country, I think they know what to do and they are doing their best.

“The truth is that Rome was not built in a day, America was also not built in a day, Americans suffered insecurity for over 200 years, but they are great today,” he told NAN.

He noted that Nigeria is still below 100 years old as an independent country, which was not half of America’s experience.

“Nigeria is only 62 years of existence as an independent country. In fact, we are still babies, still young but I believe we are going to overcome our challenges within a short while.

“What we do need are patience and commitment, and we shall all overcome it,” he said.

Jinadu told NAN that the security challenge could be tackled by everyone, especially, the youth who are full of energy.
He, therefore, urged the government to include the youth in the business of tackling insecurity in the country.
