WMF president urges LASU students to take charge of their future at ICE Connect

The President of the Women Mentorship Forum (WMF), Ebosetale Okhueleigbe, has urged Nigerian university students to take full responsibility for their future, regardless of life’s challenges.

Delivering a keynote speech at the ICE Connect forum, hosted by the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at Lagos State University (LASU), Okhueleigbe encouraged students to adopt a mindset of self-leadership and resilience.

“You cannot control how you started, but you can control how you finish,” she said. “It’s between you and your dream—not your mentor, not your parents, not your lecturers. You are the chief executive officer of your life.”

Okhueleigbe, who is also the founder of P.S.L. and a Harvard Business School-certified leader, told the audience to reject defeatist thinking and embrace affirmations of self-worth. Her address centred on the importance of personal agency in navigating obstacles and realising one’s vision.

With a career spanning tax auditing, technology, public service, and civic leadership, Okhueleigbe is widely recognised for blending professional excellence with community impact. She has also earned accolades as a humanitarian and strategic mentor.

The ICE Connect platform at LASU provides a support hub for students and faculty in the Department of Information and Communication Engineering. It aims to foster resource sharing, mentorship, and professional development within the tech and engineering disciplines.

Participants at the event described Okhueleigbe’s address as a timely reminder of the importance of internal drive in a fast-evolving academic and professional landscape.
