Women from across Rivers State converged at Isaac Boro Park on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in a vibrant gathering that blended faith, civic commitment, and community celebration with a renewed call for unity and sustained peace in the state and the nation.
Organised by the Toby Jug Foundation in partnership with Rivers Women Unite for SIM, the event carried the theme “For the Love of State and Country,” drawing inspiration from the biblical admonition in Matthew 12:25 on the strength of unity. Participants described the occasion as a deliberate departure from conventional festivities, transforming it into a platform for prayer, thanksgiving, and collective responsibility toward nation-building.
At the heart of the gathering was a joint commendation issued to Bola Tinubu, Siminalayi Fubara, and Nyesom Wike for choosing dialogue and reconciliation over political confrontation. The women noted that the prevailing atmosphere of calm in Rivers State is essential to social stability, economic growth, and long-term development, urging all stakeholders to preserve and strengthen the peace achieved.
Speaking during the rally, the foundation’s president, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton, emphasised that prioritising stability over rivalry represents a collective victory for citizens. She recalled that past political tensions had slowed progress in the state, stressing that unity must be actively protected through responsible leadership and civic participation. According to her, genuine love for the state is best expressed through service, prayer, and actions that uplift vulnerable communities.
A major highlight of the event was the formal announcement of the Rivers Rural Women Support Stimulus (RRWSS), a new empowerment initiative designed to deliver financial grants to 5,000 women in its first phase. The scheme will focus on rural communities across all 23 local government areas of Rivers State, with particular attention to market women, Muslim women’s groups, and non-indigenes residing in the state. Organisers described the programme as a practical extension of the women’s commitment to inclusive development and social equity.
The gathering also featured intercessory prayers for national and state leaders, families, and the future of Nigeria, led by Salvation Oziri of Conquerors World Glorious Ministry International. The spiritual sessions, marked by worship and reflection, reinforced the event’s message that faith and unity remain central pillars of societal harmony.
Beyond its solemn moments, the programme maintained a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Children participated in games and recreational activities while mothers engaged in fellowship and reflection, underscoring the community-centred spirit of the celebration. The event concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting to symbolise love, shared purpose, and special milestones among participants.
Through the gathering, Rivers women projected a unified voice affirming that peace, faith, and collective action are indispensable foundations for any thriving society. Their message resonated clearly: a stable and prosperous future for Rivers State and Nigeria depends on citizens and leaders working together in unity and mutual respect.
