YABATECH To confer fellowship awards on Remi Tinubu, Reps Speaker

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) is set to confer the institution’s prestigious Fellowship award on Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, at its 36th convocation.
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, who disclosed this to journalists while highlighting activities lined up for this year’s convocation, said a total of 8,139 students, who have demonstrated diligence and commitment to their studies, will be presented with National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma(HND) certificates.
Of the figure, 316 students will be graduating with Distinction, 2,381 are in the Upper Credit division, while 3,939 will be graduating with Lower Credit.
He added that 1,503 others will be receiving their diplomas with a pass grade.
Abdul disclosed that Senator Tinubu and Speaker Abbas would be honoured with the institution’s Fellowship award not only for their remarkable contributions to Nigeria, but also for inspiring generations with their leadership and vision.
He noted that their achievements in public service reflect the values of dedication, integrity and excellence needed to instill in the students.
The Rector also announced that the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will deliver the convocation lecture themed, ‘Developing Exportable Alternatives for Nigeria’s Economic Recovery,” on Tuesday November 19, 2024, while the event will be chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Speaking on the milestones attained by the college over the past year, Abdul said: “We have advanced our academic programmes by updating curricula to reflect current industry needs and technological trends. New courses and modern teaching methods have been introduced, equipping our students with the skills required to thrive in today’s evolving job market.
“Our collaboration with industries has expanded, offering students practical exposure through internships and joint projects, particularly in areas such as engineering, information technology and applied sciences,” Abdul added.
