The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has urged the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to pursue his ambition vigorously, saying that the elders are behind him to succeed.

The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) has urged the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to pursue his ambition vigorously, saying that the elders are behind him to succeed.

Secretary-General of YCE, Dr. Kunle Olajide, stated this, yesterday, while speaking with The Guardian in an exclusive interview.

Olajide said Tinubu had done enough for the country to merit the exalted office.

SIMILARLY, Head of Department of Political Science, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and former Chief of Staff to the late Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, Prof. Gbade Ojo, has urged Tinubu to wade into the face-off between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government to enhance his chances in 2023.

Ojo, who stated this while speaking with The Guardian in Ibadan, also charged Tinubu to advise the Federal Government on how to tackle insecurity and revamp the current bleeding economy.

ALSO, Prof. Remi Aiyede of the Political Science Department of University of Ibadan (UI) said with the way the current government is handling ASUU’s strike, the APC-led government cannot be serious about the 2023 polls.

He said: “The ASUU strike is a minus on the APC administration. The presidential candidate of the APC has not been able to wade into the strike.

“The APC cannot be serious about the 2023 elections. The government is ignoring us. The students are at home. The APC-led government is taking us for granted.”
