The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, in a statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu, the state capital, read in part: “This restructuring exercise of ministries was aimed at making them more effective and efficient in the discharge of their functions and avoidance of unnecessary overlaps and bureaucracy for effective service delivery and cutting the cost of governance in Yobe State.”
Wali said the units excised from the seven defunct ministries should ensure smooth transition to their new restructured mother ministries for effective and efficient service delivery to the people.
The affected scrapped ministries, according to Wali in the statement, include Animal and Fisheries Development, Higher Education, Integrated Rural Development, as well as Transport and Energy, Environment and Youths Sports.
He, however, said that the approved working 15 ministries are Works and Transport, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Education, as well as Youths, Sports and Community Development (YSCD).
Other restructured ministries, he added, include Ministry of Land and Housing, Budget and Economic Planning, Finance, Health and Justice, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Information and Culture, Religious Affairs, Women Affairs, Commerce, Industry and Tourism and Water Resources.
