THE Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, has directed all state Commissioners of Police (CPs) to deploy Anti-Bomb Squad personnel of their respective commands to inspect all explosives in their armouries to forestall future re-occurrence.

A statement issued by the Force Spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, an Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), yesterday in Abuja said the Police chief also directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGs) in charge of Operations, Sontoye Wakama, to visit the scene and ensure that those injured received medical attention.

The statement, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), urged Nigerians to remain calm, as the Police had directed adequate security surveillance on places where Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) recovered are kept.

While calling on the public to go about their normal businesses, the statement said the Police would ensure the safety of citizens at all times.

An explosion rocked a Jimeta Police Station in Adamawa State on Thursday, resulting in a number of casualties.
