Youths protest, court adjourns Jos market rebuilding case
There was a peaceful protest yesterday by youths at the premises of Plateau State High Court in Jos.
The youths were in support of the state government’s decision to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jaiz Bank for the rebuilding of the burnt Jos Main Market.
In their peaceful march, they went round the court premises, but no official of the court came out to address them.
Most of the placards they were carrying read, ‘Sign the MoU with Jaiz’, ‘Jaiz does not recognise religion’, ‘Both Muslims and Christians will benefit from the operation of the Bank’.
MEANWHILE, the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos has adjourned till August 30, 2022 for the continuation of hearing in a suit filed by Dachung Bagos (representing Jos East/Jos Federal Constituency) challenging Governor Simon Lalong, the state government and the Attorney General of Plateau over the planned signing of MoU with Jaiz Bank to rebuild the market.
