Youths tasked on harnessing potentials, creativity for economic growth
Youths have been charged to harness their enormous potentials, boundless energy and creativity to tackle the country’s challenges.
This was the submission of stakeholders at a youth conference in Lagos, in commemoration of the 2019 International Youth Day.
Speaking on the theme, ‘Transforming Education: Rethinking the Present’, National President, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria, Adetola Juyitan maintained that youths have significant roles to play in providing needed solutions to solving the problem of inclusiveness and access to quality education.
Wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, encouraged young people to remain committed to Nigeria’s development, continually striving for self-development.
Abiodun said providing equal access to education is core to her personal project and her husband’s administration.
The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Ketil Karlsen said every youth must contribute in ensuring that inclusive and equitable access to education is made possible to all.
The Director, United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), Nigeria, Ronald Kayanja said commemoration of the historic day, for 20 years now, forms part of United Nations agenda to support youths.
At the event, the 2019 JCI Nigeria Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP), who got commendation awards, were unveiled.
They are Adeola Adefemi, Glory Osei, Naomi Ekpoki, Folarin Falana, Oluwaseun Osowobi, Temi-Giwa Tunbosun, Bilikis Adebiyi-Abiola, Lauretta Onye, Samson Itodo and Onyeka Akumah.
