Former Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, on Wednesday took a swipe at serving state governors in the country, saying most of them are not development driven.

According to Yuguda, the governors rather than the president should be blamed for the myriad of challenges facing the country due to their lack of focus and vision for the states they superintend.

The former governor stated this in Abuja shortly after he was named the director-general and national coordinator, Tein Jack-Rich Campaign Organisation.

Jack-Rich, an oil magnate and founder, Belema oil-producing Limited who is an indigene of Rivers State is a presidential aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I have worked with many governors both in my first and second tenure and I know the mentality of most of our governors and unfortunately most of our Nigerian governors are not development driven,” Yuguda said. “Their focus is not about developing Nigeria. It is something else. They know better.

“If they (governors) focus on building Nigeria today the country would have been a different place. It is not about the president. It is about who are in the field making the difference. If they (governors) had a shared a vision of a great country, Nigeria would have been one of the greatest countries”, he stated.

Yuguda, while accepting his new role, said he is honoured to have found himself in a project where a youth is seeking to get the APC presidential ticket.

Describing Jack-Rich as a highly educated, very successful business man, he said the presidential hopeful would find solution to the myriads of challenges facing the country, especially agitations in various parts of the country.

“Jack-Rich belongs to the youth and middle aged and I don’t believe he shares the beliefs of the elderly in Nigeria because if the elderly had made a difference we would have seen all the difference.

“I don’t know who among us that sign a contract with almighty Allah to be a Kanuri, Fulani, Hausa, Igbo Yoruba, Ijaw, or any other tribe.

“The Bible and the Quran stand to guide us today and things are happening wrongly because the morality our two religions teache us is what we have forgotten.

“All these wicked things separating us we are going to eliminate them, and he Jack-Rich will do all the elimination. He is hear to make the difference. The challenges that we have now, the solution is Jack-Rich”, he said.
Speaking earlier, Jack-Rich appealed to the agitating sections of the country to embrace dialogue as the veritable instrument to sustainable growth of the country.

Noting that Nigeria’s current challenges are due to leadership deficit, he promised to provide purposeful leadership and unite the country if elected to succeed Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

On his part, Media and Zonal Coordinator, Jack-Rich Campaign Organisation, His Highness, Anabs Sara-Igbe, expressed confidence that his principal would defeat the acclaimed heavyweights in the APC in a free and fair contest.

He also debunked reports that Jack-Rich was contesting for the presidency to scuttle the chance of
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi.

While supporting the clamour that the presidency should be zoned to the South-South, Sara-Igbe maintained that Ameachi was not the best candidate to represent the region in the race.

He said: “Both Ameachi and Jack-Rich are Nigerians have the right to run for the post of the president. We have noting against the minister contesting and we are not fighting him. Jack-Rich does not fight with anyone. Today, Jack-Rich is the highest donor in Rivers State APC. He is not competing with the minister but has even been supporting him but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t aspire.

“Let’s even come back home. Is Amaechi the best candidate for the South South? The answer is no. Amechi has been minister for many years but he is building railway to Niger but the South South has no railway. The only railway was the one former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan built was to carry Iron Ore from Itakpe to Warri Refinery. Even that railway cannot be extended go Abuja to enable the south south use it.”
