The panel of inquiry put in place by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State to investigate the administration of former Governor Isa Yuguda between 2007 and 2015 has alleged that N200 billion was “stolen or mismanaged.”

The allegation was made after a month’s probe.

While briefing the press yesterday, the panel’s spokesman, Alhaji Umar Ningi, said the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) paid N2 billion to the Bauchi government as its share of the Ecological Fund for 2013.

According to him, the Ecological Fund Office, through a letter with reference number EF/ACCT/019/1/14 dated September 18, 2019, confirmed that in 2014, another N500 million was paid into the state’s FCMB account as Grant for Displaced Persons in the state.

“What is outstanding is how this amount totaling N2.5 billion was expended.

“A total of N564,851,151,690.05 had accrued to Bauchi between May 2007 and May 2015. Over N200 billion of this fund, this committee discovered, was mismanaged or stolen outright under the administration of former Governor Yuguda.

“The committee is going to implement all the recommendations contained in the high-powered committee report that investigated all major contracts awarded between May 2007 and May 2015,” he stated.
