
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 1,500 personnel ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Bauchi State.
This is contained in a statement by the Spokesman of the Corp, Saminu Yusuf, on Tuesday in Bauchi.
He said the deployment was to ensure protection of critical national assets, lives and property during the festivities.

Yusuf said the deployment included covert and overt operations, joint patrol of flash points, protection of critical national assets, infrastructure, places of worships, parks, eateries, banks, and hotels.
“The commandant of the corp directed officers and men to be diligent, focused and honest in carrying out their duties,”
He also warned residents of the state against engaging in activities that might breach security during the festive period.
Meawhile, the Police command in Bauchi has restated commitment to safeguard lives and property during the festive period.

The Spokesman of the command, Ahmed Wakil, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Bauchi.
Wakil said the police in collaboration with other security agencies were dedicated towards ensuring peace and security in the state.
He said the command had deployed personnel, including conventional police and tactical teams, and logistics to guarantee security at all strategic locations in the state.
“All personnel assigned to this important task have been given explicit instructions to maintain a professional and civil demeanour while executing their duties effectively.

“The Commissioner of Police wishes the general public a joyful Christmas and New Year celebrations. The CP urged all citizens to use this time for introspection, and to offer prayers for the peace, progress, and unity of the state and the nation.
“As the Christian community commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, religious leaders, worshippers, and residents are to cooperate with the police and other security agencies,” he said.
