Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday arrived in Cyprus in continuation of his working visit to Kano students on foreign scholarship.
Yusuf, who arrived at Near East University, North Cyprus from Sharjah University, India, has settled to address the prolonged challenges faced by students sponsored by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration but unable to access their academic certificates.
A spokesperson to the governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement on Monday, said Yusuf met with the management of Near East University to resolve the unsettled financial crisis that left the students stranded.
According to him, the discussion focused on the overdue release of certificates for Kano students who graduated between 2015 and 2019.
The Governor described the situation as a major setback for the affected students.
Yusuf assured the stranded students of his administration’s readiness to settle the liabilities and facilitate the release of the certificates.
“This situation has been a significant setback for our children, hindering their dreams and aspirations, and it has also affected our state, which is in dire need of their expertise,” Yusuf said.
“We remain committed to prioritizing education and the welfare of our people as a foundation for sustainable growth
