Zamfara constitutes committee to support victims of banditry

Zamfara State Government has established a Standing Committee to support victims of banditry attacks across the state.

The responsibilities of the committee include providing emergency relief and sympathy visits to victims within 48 hours of any attack.
The committee will conduct thorough assessments to determine the level and type of losses — including lives lost, displaced persons, destroyed properties, farms, and other assets.

It shall recommend both medium- and long-term strategies to rebuild lives and prevent recurrence, collaborate with relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and submit periodic reports to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The State Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mummuni Masamar Mudi, will serve as the chairman of the committee, while the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Isma’il Moriki, will serve as the vice chairman.

Other members include Commissioners of Security and Internal Affairs, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, Health, and Information.

Also included are His Royal Highness, the Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad Mohammad; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security; the Executive Secretary of ZEMA; the CSO and DCSO to Government House; the Chief Detail to the Deputy Governor; and the Chairman of the Zamfara State Council of Ulama.

Yazidu Attahiru, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Security and Internal Affairs, will serve as the Secretary of the Committee.
