Zamfara council to recruit volunteer health personnel
Worried about the shortage of workers at many health facilities in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, Chairman of the local council, Alhaji Lawali Marafa, said there were plans to recruit trained health personnel as volunteers to meet the existing gap in their respective communities.
The council chairman announced this yesterday while receiving leaders of 11 wards development committees for routine immunisation in the areas who paid him an advocacy visit in his office.
He said his administration would give priority to the improvement of health care services in the area, adding that monthly allowances would be paid to the volunteers.
He added that as soon as the economy improves, they would be converted into full workers of the local council.
According to him, plans are under way to collaborate with the Ward Development Committees to introduce drugs revolving programme in at least one health facility per ward.
