Zamfara governor unveils multi-pronged development initiative in Bukkuyum
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State launched a multifaceted development project in Bukkuyum on Tuesday, aiming to improve infrastructure, healthcare access, and boost the local agricultural sector. This initiative marks a significant step towards delivering essential services and empowering the community.
The project features the construction of a 19.2km road connecting Mallamawa, Zarummai, Bukkuyum, and Birnin Zauma-Gummi. This crucial infrastructure development will enhance transportation links, ease travel, and open up economic opportunities for residents.
Recognising the need for improved healthcare facilities, Governor Lawal initiated the significant renovation and upgrade of the General Hospital in Nasarawa Burkullu. This refurbishment will involve modernising existing facilities, constructing new buildings, and equipping the hospital with state-of-the-art medical equipment. These advancements will expand the hospital’s capacity to serve more patients and offer specialized medical procedures, bringing enhanced healthcare closer to the community.
Understanding the pivotal role of agriculture in Zamfara’s economy, the governor, according to a statement made available to The Guardian by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, distributed agricultural assets and vital farm inputs to farmers under the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus program. This initiative is aimed at empowering farmers to increase their production, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
Governor Lawal emphasised the project’s significance in delivering “dividends of democracy” to the people of Bukkuyum and improving their lives. He urged beneficiaries of the agricultural support to utilise the resources effectively and expressed confidence that the project would bring about positive changes for the community.
This multi-pronged approach demonstrates the Zamfara State government’s commitment to rural development and its understanding of the interconnectedness of infrastructure, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
