Zamfara to pay special allowances to corps members posted to rural schools


The Zamfara Government is to pay special allowances to members of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) deployed to schools in rural areas, the state Commissioner for Youths and Skills Acquisition, has said.

The Commissioner, Alhaji Abdullahi Gurbin-bore, who did not state the amount, announced this on Wednesday in Gusau, while addressing newsmen.

He said that the move was designed to improve education in the rural parts of the state.

“The present administration in the state, in order to appreciate members of NYSC will pay special allowances to corps members serving in rural communities as a show of encouragement.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on the local government authorities, traditional rulers to give good accommodation and hospitality to corps members serving in their areas, “he said.

The commissioner said that the government had restored the State Honours Award, with automatic job offer to three deserving corps members at the end of the service year.
