Sir: Until his death, Mr. Sulyman Aduagba, an extremely cheerful person, was a non-teaching staff of University of Ilorin. I heard he died suddenly without any obvious ailment, Sunday, May 24, 2019. May God Almighty grant him eternal bliss and support the family he left behind. Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who is an untouchable bulldog of Nigeria’s President, General Muhammadu Buhari (GMB) is quoted as renewing GMB’s song of implicating past rulers, rather than trying to improve what he met on ground. Indeed GMB has not only committed the worst brutalities, he has worsened everything he met on ground, economically; from cost of fuel to cost of rice. I read that “The former President Goodluck Jonathan, in the night of Tuesday, March 27, reacted to the allegation by Ibrahim Magu, the chairman of Nigeria’s anti-graft body, that N1.3 trillion was looted under the immediate past administration,” which is Jonathan’s administration.

How did Jonathan react? “In his reaction to the allegation, Jonathan, through one of his spokespersons, Remo Omokri, said in a statement: ‘This is strange because Magu was expected to have used the forum to address the issues of impunity raised in the U.S. State Department report which directly indicted leaders of the anti-corruption crusade by emphatically noting, among other things, that ‘there is a climate of impunity in Buhari government that allows officials to engage in corrupt practices with a sense of exemption from punishment’.” It seems a ray of hope if U.S. sees through GMB’s pretensions to be an anti-corruption crusader. Another of GMB’s mouthpieces, Babatunde Raji Fashola, is quoted as saying that Nigeria needs to borrow ten trillion naira for infrastructure and power, without mentioning the total debts of Nigeria and why GMB has not accounted for any budget, 2015 till date.

Those who did not vote in support of carnage and economic destruction of Nigeria in the 2019 general elections should not be afraid of the thunder that God will order Shàngó to rain on evil-minded persons. The name of the Shàngó priest in my village who died only some years ago was Shàngódáre (Shàngó dispenses justice). Who did not know Ògúndáre (Ògún dispenses justice) Foyanmu of Ogbomosho, Oyo State; or the many Ògúnníyì (Ògún is honorable) around us? The retired Catholic Bishop of Ekiti, Dr. Michael Fágùn, explained that the full name is Fáágùnlékà (Fáígùnlékà in Oyo Yoruba; Ifa does not preside over wickedness). That is African Traditional Religion for you; it is about social justice, rather than power and money. The rain of shame of GMB and those who were singing his praise to get him reelected is gathering to fall. Those in the presidency and the legislature cart home millions, monthly; GMB was dribbling workers over N30, 000 minimum wage and some Nigerians still voted for him. They have invited ṣonṣo and they will see ṣonṣo. Believe it firmly.
