The burden of history
SIR: I am surprised how these people are moved by the overwhelming crowd and supporters that welcomed Buhari/Osinbajo to all their campaign rallies everywhere. A litmus test of the imminent change looming over Nigeria. It is also a testimony that Buhari is man of the people. His detractors are a laughing stock as they are all rattling now. Well-meaning Nigerians should be focused by not getting distracted by these lovers of corruption.
They’re bent on spreading what I always call premeditated-monstrous-lethal-lies against the person of Gen. Buhari. From Boko Haram appeaser to certificate saga; to collapsing at campaign rally and now they are claiming non-existent prostate cancer. Where are the minds of these people? Who will conscientise these warped minds?
When you spread hatred through hate speeches and campaigns, and use religion and tribal issues to divide your people, the ultimate result will be unfavourable even to you.
“Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides.”– Andre Malraux. That’s the mind of our president in Nigeria today. He knows from the bottom of his heart that he has been lying to Nigerians through his religious leaders and his political collaborators. He pretends not to know that corruption and graft, like cancer, have metastasized into the system.
The more they come up with shenanigans, the more they help us embellish Buhari’s unscathed image. These people abhor the ‘truth’ with their sacrilegious political intent and penchant for lies. They fabricate lies to rewrite their ugly history. They are all seeing the handwriting on the wall that Nigeria of tomorrow is not going to be the Nigeria of yesterday. President Jonathan is on his way to joining his predecessors’ ugly political history.
A Lagos-based private TV station pitiably is sentencing the unsuspecting followers of President Jonathan to Nigerian political wilderness. The management of the station should remember the burden of history. Some of their political sympathisers will accuse Diaspora of sitting in the comfort of their rooms abroad championing the cause of oppression in Nigeria.
Folks, your vote is your weapon of change. Use it. Troop out on election day with your political weapons (Voter’s cards) and vote for men of integrity. After the rebirth of a new Nigeria and the banishment of poverty, insecurity and hopelessness from our land; friends, foes and adversaries of Gen. Buhari will forge ahead; jettison our naughty differences, rejoice together and face our collective challenges.
And then, change will come to Nigeria.
