Pay federal workers promptly

SIR: The delayed payment of workers at the federal level has been a source of concern and there is the urgent need to ameliorate the hardship they are facing.

The perceived lateness in convening Federal Allocation Account
Committee (FAAC) meeting may have contributed to the delay in remitting federal, state and local governments allocations. Prompt payment of workers would help to take care of the various problems workers face now.

The various generating agencies in country should endeavour to remit their revenues to the Federation Account to ensure the commencement of monthly allocation through the account committee to ease the difficulty. The wages of most workers can’t even meet basic demands of ordinary workers in the country, due to inflation and cost of living.

We hope the government under the humane and kind-hearted President Muhammdu Buhari would help Nigerian workers to collect their salaries as and when due.
