Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the weekend, hinted at a plan to constitute a ‘shadow government’ to expose the alleged failure of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration in Kano.

The Patriotic Volunteers, a group within the Kano chapter of the party, insisted that the option of a shadow government has become “necessary to put Kano in the right direction.”

Addressing journalists at the weekend, the National President of APC Patriotic Volunteers, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, pointed out that the group was planning to assign its members to all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) in Kano to monitor government activities.

The deployment of APC agents would enable the group to form “constructive criticisms” that would prompt the government to do the needful in the public service, he said.

“We are going to do it in Kano by assigning our members at MDAs to monitor their activities and come up with a report. We are planning this and we will soon address a press conference to inform the general public about this move,” Alhaji added.
