• 2027: No consensus to unseat Tinubu, Okechukwu tells ADC
• President will sail into electoral victory without stress, says APC chieftain
Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal’s claim of a “national consensus” to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as another failed attempt to rewrite the obvious truth.
The APC said that Nigerians overwhelmingly supported Tinubu in the 2023 elections and had continued to back his government. Spokesman of the APC, Oluseye Oladejo, who spoke yesterday, said Tinubu’s administration had shown a focus on performance and progress, citing economic stabilisation efforts and legacy infrastructure projects as evidence.
The party urged Tambuwal to clear his name over the recent allegations surrounding his tenure as Sokoto State governor. The APC attributed the challenges faced by the opposition in forming a united alliance to include incompatible ambitions, conflicting interests, and self-serving motivations among key figures.
MEANWHILE, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Durosinmi Meseko, has said that President Bola Tinubu will sail through the 2027 general elections without stress and come out victorious. He said that the victory is already guaranteed, considering the President’s superlative performances so far.
Meseko said this at the weekend, in Lokoja, while briefing newsmen after a critical stakeholders’ meeting of leaders of Bunu District of Kabba Bunu Local Council of Kogi State.
The APC chieftain disclosed that the meeting was to engage the stakeholders on mobilising the people of the district to get registered in the ongoing voter registration exercise, as well as demand infrastructure for the district.
Maseko, while highlighting several socio-economic and security reforms within the last two years, noted that Tinubu inherited an economy that was in a comatose state, saying that the country is now on the path of prosperity. He urged Nigerians to have faith in the APC-led administration, adding that, as challenging as it may look for the common man, people’s welfare will soon improve.
The APC chieftain, who described the just-concluded by-election held across the country as a mock test for 2027, said that the margin of lead by the APC was an indication that 2027 is a done deal for the APC and Tinubu. He, therefore, called on Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration to get registered, maintaining that their vote is their power.
Also speaking, the State Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara, said the meeting was to brainstorm on how Bunu District would gain prominence in the political scheme ahead of 2027, adding that the administration of Governor Usman Ododo has made the district’s welfare a top priority. He, however, urged residents of the state to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise to obtain the right to participate in elections.
ALSO, another chieftain of the APC, yesterday, said that what subsists in the country as national consensus is the rotation of the Presidency from North to South and not unseating President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Okechukwu, who was reacting to a statement credited to the leadership of the ADC of a national consensus to unseat Tinubu in 2027, dismissed it as wishful thinking.
The APC chieftain, while addressing members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Congress (CPC) at Eke, Udi Local Council of Enugu State, yesterday, dubbed those who migrated from the PDP to ADC as Internal Displaced Politicians (IDP), advising them to go back and fix the PDP that they destablised.
