The Plateau State Coordinator of the Atiku Nationwide Project, Dr. Solomon Titus Gushibet, has denied insinuations in some quarters that the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is a thief.

Gushibet argued that if Atiku were a thief, he would not have been moving freely round the country without being picked up and prosecuted, given the current administration’s style. He spoke, yesterday, at the PDP Atiku Campaign Organisation in Jos. He said the combination of Atiku and his vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has what it takes to move Nigeria to a greater height. He urged supporters not to be deterred, but be courageous and fearless of the present government.

Gushibet stated that Atiku was the engine room of Nigeria as the Vice President during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, since it was Atiku that brought about economic transformation. He said by the time the duo assumed office, Nigerian economy was already nose-diving into recession, but they did not blame the situation on the military.

The National secretary of the campaign organisation, Abdullahi Narabi, said they thought when the present government came on board, there would be respite, but unfortunately, the situation was growing worse economically, as prices of staple food have skyrocketed.
