The Senator representing Bauchi North, Samaila Dahuwa Kaila, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over what he described as incessant internal squabbles within the party. He is yet to announce his new political affiliation.
In a letter dated October 6, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Tsokuwa/Kofar Gabar Ward in Katagum Local Government Area, Bauchi State, Kaila said persistent factional disputes within the party had made it difficult for him to discharge his legislative duties effectively.
According to the letter titled “Notification of Resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” the senator stated: “The incessant internal squabble that has led to unnecessary factionalisation within the PDP is seriously affecting my ability to deliver my constitutional responsibilities effectively as an elected representative of my constituency in the 10th Senate.”
He added that, after due consultation with his political associates, he had decided to change his political platform.
“Accordingly, I hereby write to inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” he wrote.
Kaila thanked the party for the opportunity to serve as a senator and expressed hope for future collaboration “for the benefit of our dear great country.”
As of the time of filing this report, the senator had not revealed the political party he intends to join.
Efforts to reach him for confirmation were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered.
