Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has attributed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in Saturday’s by-election for the Remo Federal Constituency to his administration’s deliberate efforts at improving lives and transforming the state through massive infrastructural development.
Speaking on Sunday in Iperu during a press conference to celebrate the victory of the APC candidate, Hon. Adesola Elegbeji, who was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abiodun described the outcome as a referendum on his administration’s performance.
He said the people of Remo had spoken loudly in support of his government despite attempts by political opponents to intimidate and induce voters.
“This election is a true testament to the popularity of our administration and our party across the country,” Abiodun said. “It also validates the success of President Bola Tinubu’s revolution in the last 24 months in office.”
The governor noted that the victory coincided with the approval granted by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for the Gateway International Airport to commence commercial flight operations.
“Without a doubt, this is a monumental achievement that will leave a lasting imprint on the history of our state. Ogun State is now connected to the rest of the world,” he added.
While congratulating Elegbeji, Abiodun urged her to carry the mandate with humility and diligence, stressing that the victory should be seen as a call to service.
“It is a journey of service, trust, and tangible development for our people. We must remain disciplined, focused, and united. Our collective strength is the foundation upon which even greater victories will be won. This is an indication of what the 2027 elections will look like,” he said.
The governor commended stakeholders, including party members, traditional rulers, INEC officials, security agencies, and religious leaders, for ensuring a hitch-free election.
In her remarks, Hon. Elegbeji thanked the people for their confidence in her and pledged to prioritise women and youth empowerment, rural development, and constituency projects with direct impact across the three local government areas of the constituency.
