CJ warns judicial officials against corruption

Ogun State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Olatokunbo Olopade has charged judicial officers in the State to refrain from any act of corruption inimical to the smooth dispensation of Justice in the State.

Justice Olopade who gave the charge in Abeokuta, the State capital while swearing-in three new female Magistrates, said with corruption being tackled headlong by President Muhammadu Buhari led government, the State Judiciary would not be an exception, warning that they should not bring disrepute to the dignity of the State Judiciary.

The newly sworn-in Magistrates are Olajumoke Fasilat Adeduntan, Yetunde Sekinat Adebayo and Fatimat Ajike Ojelade. It would be recalled that three Male Magistrates were sworn-in in September this year and with the three new additional Magistrates, the State has a total number of 36 Magistrates.

She said, “Corruption is something we are fighting in the country in general, it would not be tolerated, anyone found wanting would be shown the way out. I implore you to learn, imbibe and uphold the fundamental integrity of the revered temple of justice in the State”.

Justice Olopade admonished them to be aware that they were joining a crop of seasoned, hardworking and dedicated Magistrates, explaining that they should be more dedicated to their duties as well as punctual at all times.
She added that they should give top priority to law researching and accord due respect to their seniors, advising family members of the new Magistrates to desist from undue interference with their duties and should also allow them to perform without any form of hindrance.

The Chief Registrar, Mr. Kunle Oloyede at the event recalled that the State Judiciary under the watchful eyes of the Chief Judge had appointed three High Court Judges in May 2013, and another two in December, while 16 Magistrates have been appointed so far to compliment the dispensation of justice in the State.
