Defections won’t weaken PDP, Fintiri declares ahead of convention

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2025 National Convention Organising Committee and Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Thursday, expressed confidence in the strength and unity of the party despite recent defections of some governors and key members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The convention, scheduled to be held on November 15 and 16, aims to further consolidate the party’s structure.

Speaking on the state of the party ahead of its forthcoming national convention, while inspecting the venue for the party’s National Convention, Lekan Salami Sports Complex and Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed that the PDP remains a formidable political institution capable of reclaiming power in 2027.

He emphasised that the upcoming convention would demonstrate the party’s resilience, internal democracy, and readiness to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in the next general election.

The Chairman of the Committee, Fintiri, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation, thanking Governor Seyi Makinde for his support.
