Edo election: Ize-Iyamu’s wife blames rain for low voter turnout
Wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in the 2020 Edo election, Prof. Idia Osagie Ize-Iyamu, on Saturday decried the low turnout of voters for today’s election in the state.
Mrs. Ize-Iyamu spoke to The Guardian while waiting to vote at the John Odigie-Oyegun Staff Training Centre now John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy in Benin.
She expressed worry over the unfriendly weather conditions with rain showers adding that voting is ongoing and peaceful at her Oredo Ward 2, polling Unit 2 at the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy.
Ize-Iyamu expressed optimism that more voters would come out and vote for their choice of candidate as the exercise continues.
The Guardian gathered that there is voters’ apathy in the state amid heavy downpours which commenced at exactly 10:00 am.
