The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Saturday, vowed to return all community lands given out or sold to cronies of the Obaseki-led administration in the state without the approval of the communities.

Okpebholo stated this at Ugu during the party’s Ward-to-Ward campaign in Orhionmwon Local Government Area (LGA).

The governorship candidate, who lamented the deplorable condition of the road leading to the community, assured them that he would make it a first priority when he comes to power.

“I will make sure I tar this road immediately I resume office as the governor of Edo State. I know fully well that the farm products from all the communities here contribute greatly to the economy of the state,” he stated.

The gubernatorial candidate promised to provide dividends of democracy to Edo State if given the mandate.

The governorship candidate also promised to provide teachers to educate their children in the school.

He said, “We will employ 500 teachers within 100 days in office and also provide mechanised farming, as women will be given soft loans.”

On his part, the Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign, Matthew Urhokhide, appealed to the people to vote for APC on election day.

“For eight years, the government of Obaseki did nothing for Orhionmwon people. He collected your people’s land without compensation and gave it to his friends who control it.

“You people should vote for APC come September 21. PDP is an enemy of the Oba; don’t join the enemy of the Oba,” he pleaded.

Also speaking to the people of Ugu and Evboisi ward, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Pius Odubu, told the people to vote out PDP on September 21 as Obaseki had taken their land and used Caterpillar to destroy their crops. “Okpebholo is coming to remove us from the suffering created by Obaseki,” he stated.

At Urhonigbe, in recognition of his contribution to the state, the Okavbo of Urhonigbe bestowed the title of “Okakuo of Urhonigbe” upon the former governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

Oshiomhole called on the people to vote Obaseki out as a way to crush the governor politically.

A chieftain of the APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, reminded the people that they are an oil-producing community and that the federal government is giving the Edo government money to develop the state, but Obaseki is pocketing the money.

“Obaseki’s government does not allow you people to get the money. He has taken everything from you. It is Presco company that is doing the road now. Somebody who took our land cannot be governor of this state,” he stated.

A former House of Representatives member, Patrick Aisoweren, appreciated the party faithful for giving them the highest votes in the last election.

He added, “So we know the highest votes will come from here again. Let me inform you that NDDC has approved 88 billion naira for the dualisation of Benin/Abraka road, while 10 billion naira has been approved for the light project.”

On his part, Adams Oshiomhole called on the people to vote out the government of Obaseki and ensure he is crushed politically. Adding that, “This is the time to crush Obaseki politically.”

The governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, promised to provide teachers, equip the health centre, and ensure they have stable electricity.
