The Edo State Government, yesterday, called on the police, the military, and other security agencies to synergise to ensure a level playing field to guarantee a free, fair, and credible election in the state.

The Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, made the call in a statement in Benin City, debunking the allegation by the Media Consultant to the Edo All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council, Kassim Afegbua, of plans to rig the September 21 governorship election.

Osagie described the allegation by Afegbua as a “cocktail of complete falsehood,” advising the public to ignore it. He said the rambling is just another failed attempt to mislead the public and distract it from their devious plan to rig the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo, having realised that they have lost favour with the people and cannot win in a free and fair contest.

The governor’s aide said that the APC has been boasting of federal might since the start of the campaigns, harassing and intimidating innocent citizens of the state, as well as members of the opposition.

“It is rather laughable and interesting that the very thing the APC is already doing is what they are claiming other persons are doing.”
MEANWHILE, the APC Edo State governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, yesterday, pledged to improve the security of Riverine communities in the state and its environs.

Okpebholo also promised to provide amenities for the people of Ologbo Dukedom and ensure that the Marine Police operation in the community is beefed up and fully equipped.

The APC governorship hopeful made this remark in Ologbo Community, while on a ward-to-ward campaign in Ikpoba Okha Local Council of the state.  Okpebholo appealed to the people of Ologbo to vote for APC in the coming governorship election.

Meanwhile, the campaign team had a stopover at the Palace of the Enogie of Ologbo, His Royal Highness, Prince Owenvbiugie Jason Akenzua, where Okpebholo sought his royal blessings.
