GGA denies involvement in partisan publication endorsing politician

Good Governance Africa (GGA) has distanced itself from an online article endorsing former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued on 16 February by its Executive Director, Dr Ola Bello, the organisation said it had become aware of a publication titled “4 Crucial Reasons Why Nigerians Should Strongly Entrust Their Vote With Mr. Peter Obi in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential Election… by Good Governance Africa (GGA)”, which has been circulating online.

GGA categorically denied authoring, publishing, commissioning, endorsing, or approving the article, describing it as an unauthorised and misleading use of its name and institutional identity.

The organisation explained that it is a strictly non-partisan, independent research and advocacy body committed to promoting governance reform, accountability, rule of law, and democratic strengthening across Africa. It stated that it does not endorse political candidates, participate in partisan campaigns, or promote electoral preferences under any circumstances.

According to the statement, “the publication and the website hosting it do not reflect GGA’s editorial standards, research methodology, policy positions, or organisational voice.”
The organisation further described attempts to attribute partisan political advocacy to it as false, misleading, and potentially defamatory.

For clarity, GGA noted that its only official website is www.gga.org, urging the public to rely solely on materials published on that platform or disseminated through its verified communication channels.

“We are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the unauthorised publication and will take necessary steps to protect its integrity and reputation,” Dr Bello said.

GGA also called on the public, partners, stakeholders, and media organisations to disregard the said article and obtain official information exclusively from its authorised platforms.
