Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has signed the 2026 Appropriation Law worth N897.87 billion. Tagged ‘Building Your Future 111,’ the budget was assented to by the governor yesterday at the Government House Chamber in Katsina. Radda presented the bill before the House of Assembly on November 4, with lawmakers approving it within a 21-day period.
The amount presented by the governor to the House was exactly what the lawmakers approved, with recurrent expenditure at 18 per cent and capital expenditure at 82 per cent.
The governor said that details of the budget were inputs from the people, gathered through town hall meetings, representing the 361 wards across the 34 councils. He said more than 70,000 people attended the town hall meetings, with the attendees itemising those things they wanted the government to do for them.
Radda commended the lawmakers for their sacrifice, speed and diligence. He said the synergy between the government and the lawmakers was commendable, with a call on them to sustain this cooperation.
The governor urged the legislature to remain firm with their oversight to ensure promptness and due diligence in the execution and implementation of projects and programmes.
On his part, Speaker of the House Nasiru Yahaya stated that during the three-week period, lawmakers probed the budget to ensure it met the people’s expectations.
IN Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule has presented a budget proposal of N517.53 billion for 2026 to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for approval.
The Speaker, Dr Danladi Jatau, while receiving the budget in Lafia, the state capital, yesterday, assured the people of effective synergy and speedy passage of the appropriation bill for the growth and development of the state.
During the presentation of the financial proposal tagged: ‘Budget of Strategic Consolidation,’ the governor appreciated the legislators for their consistent support in passing appropriation bills.
He explained that the total expenditure budget for 2026 is structured into N212,789,330,249.07 only. This represents 41.12 per cent for recurrent expenditure.
“And a total capital expenditure of N304,749,720,661.70, representing 58.88 per cent,” he said. Sule noted that the ratio of the recurrent to capital spending reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in capital spending.
The Speaker, however, urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to comply with all budgetary provisions. He also called on the people of the state to continue promoting peace, unity, brotherhood, and mutual respect, irrespective of their political, ethnic, and religious affiliations.
