Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has applauded Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Mbah, who was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, announced his defection to the APC today.
The decision, according to Mbah, was made after “deep reflection” and consultations, with the goal of aligning Enugu more closely with the federal government to fast-track development.
Reacting to the move, Keyamo described the ruling party, APC, as a “natural home” for Mbah’s developmental goals.
Keyamo, in a tweet, described Mbah as a “bosom friend and brother” and said, “The APC is a natural home for you given your vision, your record of good governance and your incredible achievements in just two and half years in the saddle.”
The minister, who had previously visited Enugu to launch the state-owned airline, Enugu Air, said he had already predicted Mbah would be difficult to beat in future elections based on his track record as governor.
He added that Mbah’s decision to join the APC aligns with President Bola Tinubu, saying it would deepen development and unity in Enugu State and the South East region.
“When I came to Enugu a few months ago to launch Enugu Air, I openly said it would be a miracle for any other candidate to beat you in the next elections,” he noted.
“But thank God you have now decided to join forces with Mr President, Bola Tinubu, to bring more progress and development to the people of Enugu State and Southeast in general.”
Keyamo then described Mbah as the “undisputed leader of Enugu APC” and assured him that he would not regret what he called a “historic decision”.
“Take a bow, my brother and now the undisputed leader of ENUGU APC! You will NEVER regret this historic decision.”
