The local government Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been described as successful and hitch-free across the 18 council areas of the state by chieftains and stalwarts of the party.

According to the leaders of the party in the state, who were on the field during the exercise, the turnout of party faithful was impressive, stressing that the guidelines of the party were adhered to in the conduct of the exercise.

With the Chairman of Akure South Local Council, Gbenga Fasua, stressing that due to the smoothness of the exercise, there will not be any form of litigation or petition before the appeal committee of the party.

“When we are talking about the re-registration that we began some weeks back, of course, that’s widely successful, and of course, it’s giving credence to what we are doing presently. About the congress, we received the delegations from the party national, and of course, so far it’s been fair and warm, and the turnout is huge. We could accredit this to be highly successful from my own end here in Akure South Local Government.

“In Akure South local government, it didn’t happen that way. Of course, you can see how people trooped out right now. People are at Aquinas College, following the guidelines and the principle of the party; we are staying put to it. We do not want to run anything contrary to the decision and the guidelines of the party.

“For Akure South local government speaking, we don’t have any issue. As we speak today, from when the congress began till date, there has been no issue so far compared to other places; I don’t know, maybe outside the state. But for the Akure South local government, it’s been calm, it’s been cool, and of course, the result has been awesome.

On her part, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Bosede Osamaye, emphasised that in her local council of Ifedore, the option of consensus was adopted.

Osamaye stated that the option became possible due to what she described as the existing unity within the party.

“So far, it’s been free, it’s been fair, it’s been just across the board, and we’ve had reports of our people coming out peacefully to show their support for the elected officers in each of the local governments.

“My own local government, for instance, we came out early this morning, and it was consensus, So we came to affirm our support again, to say, ‘This is where we are going, and this is who are the people we have decided to elect as our officers, at least for the next four years.’ And to the glory of God, it was very wonderful.

“There won’t be litigation; there won’t be any form of petition at all. I have that assurance; like I said, the majority have decided in support. It’s consensus.
