Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has decided to remain silent on whether or not he shares the same political ideology with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Makinde recently answered questions from reporters on his special Fireside Chat video on YouTube and he was asked about his alignment with Wike and whether he shared the same political ideology with the former governor of Rivers State.

“Well, you have your friends and those who are not your friends in politics as you all cannot agree with each other. Like the Yoruba people say, you all cannot sleep only in one direction,” Makinde replied.

“We are different people and we see things differently and also, even when you have challenges or problems, you know you don’t always have a one side fits all type of solution.

“You have different people with different ideas on how to solve the same problem but I still maintain that Nyesom Wike has done very well for his people in Rivers State.”

Makinde in the interview said that he once lived in the capital city of Rivers State, Port Harcourt many years ago before he decided to venture into politics.

The Oyo State governor who belongs to the same political party as Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said Rivers State witnessed major developments when the now FCT minister was governing the state.

“I started living in Port Harcourt in 1990 and over the years, I saw the progress being made there but the little bit of a turnaround started when Rotimi Amaechi was the governor of Rivers State,” Makinde said.

“However, from 2015 under the administration of Wike, it was a different thing entirely in the state in terms of development and infrastructure.

“They didn’t start calling him ‘Mr. Project’ for nothing. Apart from that, I remember there was a time I was looking at the PDP and I thought the crisis we had in the party appeared to be insurmountable during the Sheriff and Makarfi impasse.

“Everybody thought the PDP was dead but it was Wike who led the effort all the way to the Supreme Court before it became a party again.”

Makinde said that people shouldn’t expect everyone to score a 100 percent because it is only God that is infallible as we all have our strong points and our weaknesses as well.

“I think that is all I am going to say about Wike. He is my very good friend and I believe he has the capacity to impact his environment,” the Oyo State governor said.
