The House of Representatives will begin formal discussions with Ministers and Permanent Secretaries of all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on Tuesday, aiming to expedite the N49.7 trillion budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year.
Abubakar Bichi, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, made the announcement on Monday following a meeting with statutory committee heads.
“We are determined to conclude the process and ensure the timely passage of the budget to facilitate its implementation,” Bichi stated.

President Bola Tinubu had presented the budget, dubbed “The Restoration Budget,” to the National Assembly on December 18, 2024.
Major allocations in the proposal include ₦4.91 trillion for defense and security, ₦4.06 trillion for infrastructure, ₦3.5 trillion for education, and ₦2.4 trillion for health.
Tinubu described the budget as a framework to secure peace and build prosperity.
“It is with great pleasure that I lay before this distinguished joint session of the National Assembly the 2025 Budget of Nigeria titled, ‘The Restoration Budget,’” he said during his presentation.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives aims to ensure a comprehensive review of the budget with inputs from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), stating its resolve to address pressing national priorities.
