Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has said that his successor must be a leader willing to make sacrifices for the development and progress of the state.

Speaking on Thursday while playing host to the leadership of the party spread across the wards, local government councils, and the state levels, the governor underscored the importance of selflessness and dedication in leadership, stressing that only someone who is committed to the greater good of Adamawa can continue the work of moving the state forward.

Fintiri’s remarks, as observed by The Guardian, came as the state began to look ahead toward future leadership, with emphasis on continuity and commitment to the people.

He is among the few incumbent governors whose tenure in office will expire by 2027.

While praising the leadership of the party in the state, led by Tahir Shehu, for its steadfastness in maintaining a strong grassroots presence, he urged the party’s executives to hold quarterly meetings to strengthen the PDP.

He assured them that his administration would continue working to exceed expectations, aiming to leave the state in a better condition.

The governor who also expressed dissatisfaction with the just concluded Edo State gubernatorial election, accused the opposition of manipulating social media to mislead Nigerians and steal people’s choice.

He reiterated the willingness of the PDP to challenge the outcome in court to reclaim what he described as the party’s rightful mandate.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, he encouraged party members to remain resilient and continue collaborating toward the party’s mission to reclaim leadership in Nigeria by 2027.

He emphasized that the PDP has the capacity and energy to challenge the opposition, expressing confidence that the party would return to power.

Also speaking, the state PDP Chairman, Barrister Abubakar Tahir Shehu, applauded Governor Fintiri for his national achievements, including recognition from the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

Shehu praised the governor’s leadership in Adamawa and his efforts during the national party assignment in Edo. He reaffirmed the party’s loyalty and support for Governor Fintiri, expressing hope that his successor would build upon his legacy.
