The Nigeria Advance Party (NAP) has urged the Federal Government to wake up to its responsibility in addressing the security challenges confronting the country to disabuse the dismiss the suspicion over its collusion with terrorists

The party made the statement on Wednesday at a press conference organised by Tunji Braithwaite Foundation (TBF) on the state of the nation.Speaking for the party, Director of External Communication for TBF, Achike Chude said the Nigerian military and security forces must redeem their images by protecting the lives and property of Nigerians and also ensure arrest and prosecution of those behind terrorisms.

He said: “The Nigerian government exists for the sole purpose of providing for the welfare and security of the people. The armed herdsmen, whether Fulani or not, whether home grown or foreign must be stopped.

“This is the only way the swirling suspicion and statements about government’s collusion with the marauders could be quashed. It becomes even more important when the country’s armed forces is accused of the treasonable act of working with the herdsmen to kill, maim, and loot farming communities all over the country.

“The Nigerian military and security forces must redeem their image by keeping the people safe and arresting perpetrators. It is high time the government calls the killer herdsmen what they truly are, which is to properly designate them as terrorists.”

The General Secretary of the Federation of Informal Workers Organization of Nigeria (FIWON), Gbenga Komolafe said the two major political parties in the country have demonstrated lack of capacity to provide good governance.

According to him, “The leading parties have clearly demonstrated that they lack the capacity to provide good governance. It is amazing that it has to take a foreigner of the stature of Bill Gate to tell them that the entire plank of political program as a party is faulty because it is not anchored on the development of human being.

“They abandoned education, health care system and no portable water among other things. Any government that cannot deliver on this is a complete failure. Their focus is about living large on the common pocket.”Komolafe therefore call on Nigerians to pass a vote of no confidence on the current politicians and identify new political platforms forces and individuals with pedigree, program, antecedent and clear focus to provide functional social services that will engender genuine sustainable development in the country.
