The Okpe Peoples’ Forum (OPF), a pan-Okpe socio-political and cultural organisation, has endorsed Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office.
The forum said its decision is based on the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education and economic empowerment over the past three years.
The group also called on Deltans across ethnic and political divides to support the governor’s re-election bid in the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement signed by its President, Comrade Igho Akeregha, and Secretary, Pastor Edward Emoyadua Agba, the forum congratulated Oborevwori on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election and commended the party for conducting what it described as a peaceful and united primary process.
The group expressed confidence in the governor’s leadership, saying his administration had delivered people-oriented projects and programmes under the M.O.R.E Agenda, which focuses on meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enduring peace and security.
According to the forum, the administration has recorded notable achievements in road construction, urban renewal, youth and SME empowerment, healthcare delivery, and educational development.
“In just three years in office, the Okpe people and indeed many Deltans are satisfied that Governor Oborevwori has surpassed expectations through his commitment to the rapid transformation of the state. We therefore support his re-election in 2027 to consolidate on the gains already recorded,” the statement said.
The group highlighted the construction of flyovers, roads and bridges across the state’s 25 local government areas, as well as the completion of a five-storey High Court Complex in Asaba aimed at improving judicial administration.
It also noted that the administration had expanded economic empowerment initiatives through grants to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), skilled workers and vulnerable residents under the Delta CARES programme.
On healthcare, the forum commended the rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres and the implementation of free maternal and child healthcare programmes, adding that upgrades at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara, had strengthened access to quality medical services.
The group praised the government’s investment in education, including the payment of bursaries to thousands of students and increased funding for tertiary institutions and health training colleges.
It also lauded the administration’s management of the state’s finances, claiming that Delta had not taken fresh loans in the last three years while continuing to service existing obligations.
While expressing satisfaction with the governor’s performance, the forum urged him to address outstanding challenges in electricity supply, food security, industrialisation and unemployment if re-elected for another term.
The group said it was confident that Oborevwori would deepen development efforts and sustain peace and prosperity across the state if given a renewed mandate in 2027.
