Rising from a meeting in Ondo State yesterday, leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed their dissatisfaction over the way the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has been handling the crisis within the party in the state.

The meeting, which held in the residence of the factional chairman, Isaac Kekemeke in Akure, accused Odigie-Oyegun of bias and also described his attitude towards the crisis as lackadaisical. They specifically pointed accusing fingers towards Odigie-Oyegun for fuelling the crisis, saying that he unilaterally took the decision of appointing the state Deputy Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, as the Acting Chairman without waiting for the outcome of the findings of the Southwest executive.

The stakeholders resolved to meet with zonal leaders of the party before interfacing with Odigie-Oyegun on finding a lasting solution to the crisis.“That leaders of the party remain committed to a united and indivisible APC in Ondo State under the able leadership of Hon. Isaac Kekemeke.

“That members of the executive expressed their dissatisfaction with the way the national leadership of the party is handling the crisis in the party and we have resolved to have an interface with the Southwest executive of the party before our next action.“We resolved to work tirelessly for inclusion in the APC of Ondo State with a view to expand the party and winning subsequent election in 2019, as we ultimately work towards strengthening the party in the state.”

The members also passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to continue steering the ship of the party to prosperity. They, however noted the anger of the people of the state towards the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, appealing to the people of the state to exercise patience with the government.

They urged the state governor “to accelerate action with a view to bring dividends of democracy to the people. The governor must double his effort and improve on his effort to take the state to the Promised Land.”The meeting was attended by among other leaders, Chiefs Felix Aiyegbusi, Erastus Akeju, Bode Sunmonu while others like Senator Ajayi Boroffice, Bamidele Baderinwa, Chief Aderin Adesida, Hon Bola Ilori and Chief Bukola Adetula were represented.

Meanwhile, Chairman of APC Elders Forum, Senator Olorunnibe Farukanmi has ordered Kekemeke to relinquish all the party’s official vehicles and other valuables in his possession.Farukanmi, who gave the order after rising from a meeting of the forum yesterday, also urged him to render account of several millions of naira generated from aspirants during the last gubernatorial election.

He noted that the recovery of party properties from the suspended chairman became necessary after a letter to that effect had been issued to Kekemeke without him responding. The chairman stressed that the continuous possession of the party property by Kekemeke is unconstitutional, describing it as fragrant abuse of the party laid-down rules and regulation. He therefore directed the necessary organs of the party to go into action in recovering all party properties from the factional chairman.

The acting chairman, Adetimehin, reacted to several issues including local council area creation, saying the matter is a constitutional one that has to go through a process before coming to fruition. He assured the forum that Akeredolu would definitely create more local governments in the state as promised during his election campaign.

“If Akeredolu should embark on it he will definitely see it to the end unlike the last governor who attempted it but could not complete it even when he set up a committee to that effect.”Adetimehin disclosed that he supported Akeredolu “because we believe in him and what he stands for. We are not surprised he had travelled with the president in the last few months to the USA and France. Very soon all the various networks and sojourn of the governor would start yielding fruits for the good of Ondo State.”

The chairman declared that the party is doing very well except for some few people who had moved to Alliance for Democracy but were still parading themselves as members of APC.
