Ebiseni raises concern over alignment of Ondo portion of Lagos-Calabar Highway

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State chapter, has taken a swipe at Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over the ‘huge sum’ expended on the construction of the Deputy Governor’s Lodge and the asphalt overlay of roads in some parts of the state.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, the PDP also described as a waste the continued stay of the deputy governor, Olayide Adelami, in a hotel with over N200 million approved for the renovation of his Lodge since July.

Peretei said that the economic activities of the state are on the lowest ebb following the inability of the governor to stimulate the local economy of the state.

Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the allegations as false, stating that the PDP was desperate to malign Aiyedatiwa and the ruling party ahead of the November 16, 2024 governorship election.

It said: “The PDP’s 12-year reign in Ondo State yielded no tangible results. Its inability to present a credible alternative to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s achievements has led it to resort to name-calling and lies.

“Aiyedatiwa has made significant strides in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic empowerment. The PDP’s constant attacks will not distract us from our commitment to the people.

“Their false allegations only serve to spread lies and misinformation, fuelled by an insatiable desire for power. We urge the public to discern the truth from the PDP’s fairytales and propaganda.”

IN another development, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the governorship election in the state, Sola Ebiseni, has expressed concern that the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway might not appropriately traverse the coastal portion of the state.

According to Ebiseni, who is the Secretary-General of Afenifere, the indifference of Aiyedatiwa to the proper alignment of the Ondo State portion of the project calls for concern, stressing that the state boasting of the longest shoreline ought to benefit the most.

The LP standard-bearer, who was Chairman of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Local Council and commissioner in the state, challenged Aiyedatiwa to address the people of the state over the development, saying that with the records of the LP in the state, the party will emerge victorious at the poll.
