The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has declared that it has put internal disagreements behind it, following what it described as largely peaceful and successful ward and local government congresses across the state.

The party said the outcome of the exercises, conducted in the 351 wards and 33 local government areas, demonstrated a renewed spirit of unity and positioned it for a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party said bookmakers and political observers who had predicted rancour and factional crises were proven wrong by the orderly conduct of the congresses.

According to the statement, the peaceful atmosphere that characterised the exercises was a product of “new understanding, passion and team spirit” among leaders and members, who resolved to bury past differences and work together for the collective interest of the party.

“It is a thing of joy to us that all the stakeholders welcomed the idea of consensus as advanced by the leadership of our great party at the centre. This made it mandatory for all tendencies to sit down together and forge a common front in most places,” the party said.

The congress elected new executive committee members at the ward and local government levels, who are expected to manage the party’s affairs for the next four years.

While acknowledging that a few areas recorded disagreements among stakeholders, the party disclosed that an ad hoc committee had been constituted to intervene and reconcile aggrieved members.

“Where disagreements occurred, mechanisms have been put in place to restore peace and unity. We are determined to ensure that no lingering issue will derail our collective aspiration,” the statement added.

The party said it is now looking ahead to its State Congress scheduled for March 3, expressing confidence that the exercise would further consolidate internal harmony and strengthen its structure ahead of future elections.

Sadare described the developments as the emergence of a “brand new Oyo APC,” insisting that the party was repositioning itself to reclaim political dominance in the state.

“With the new executive committees at all levels ready to swing into action, we are confident that no impediment will stand in our way to total victory in 2027 and beyond,” he stated.
