Ahead of the 2019 polls, the Senate President,  Bukola Saraki, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State to reconcile their differences.

Saraki called for reconciliation ‎yesterday in Port Harcourt during a thanksgiving organised in honour of the lawmaker representing Rivers South East, Senator Magnus Abe.

“Without peace and reconciliation, it will be difficult to achieve victory. I am happy that the state chairman of APC (Dr. Davies Ikanya) is here. What is wrong is wrong and we must say that it is wrong. That is why you (Rivers APC members) must embrace peace,” he said.

The senate president explained that Abe played a crucial role in the emergence of some members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.Governor Nyesom Wike said he tried so much to stop Abe from winning the senatorial seat for Rivers South East, but to no avail.

“When I wanted to be governor, you people (APC members) did a lot of things against me. But I became governor. Also, when Senator Magnus Abe wanted to go to the National Assembly, I showed him pepper, stood as a stumbling block. But he still emerged the winner.“It shows that if God wants to give you power, nobody can stop it. Whether you belong here or there, the interest of the state is paramount. When it is time for us to wrestle, we wrestle,” he said.
